Victorian Fighting Cock by W.D Bowers

19th century Victorian Fighting Cock by W.D Bowers

Description

This extraordinary nineteenth century specimen shows exactly how Old English Game Fowl looked 150 years ago. It is from extravagantly shaped and large sized birds like this that Fighting Cocks were developed. The case itself is still in magnificent condition, and was produced by an obscure, but talented taxidermist who operated in Watford just north of London. His large trade label indicates that he was a very successful practitioner, but his personal story has been lost in the mists of time.
