Taxidermy Little Auk and Brunnich’s Guillemot dated 1876

A taxidermy Little Auk paired with Brunnich’s Guillemot dated 1876.

The name little Auk immediately reminds people of the extinct Great Auk. Appropriately just as the Great Auk was the largest member of the Auk family, so the Little Auk is the smallest. It is a difficult species to find good specimens of and in this case it is paired with an example of Brunnich’s Guillemot, specimens of which are also hard to find. The case is interestingly shaped with a label stating the name of both birds.
