19th Century Coco De Mer

The Coco De Mer or sea coconut comes from the Seychelles and was always a sought after item for Victorian collectors of cabinets of curiosities. Both the size and resemblance of the Coco De Mer to something that brought much comfort to men throughout the ages meant they were well looked after and often placed upon a stand much like this one. Unusually, the top has been scalloped and turned into a handle.
